24th August 2016: I contacted Parks, Forestry & Recreation about the ravine slope clearance below Strathearn Rd that I reported on in my previous posting. Their Ravine and Natural Feature Protection branch responded quickly that No. 19 had received a permit to remove undesirable and invasive trees and vegetation, as part of a greater plan to replant the slope with native vegetation. They have no concern about the removal activity, but they will be inspecting the site once the stewardship plan is completed to ensure adequate planting and slope stabilization measures have been implemented. Our group will also watch with interest as the replanting takes place.
