Our local MP, Carolyn Bennett, showed up as usual for Cleanup Day on Sunday 3rd May. Here she is at our table below the Glencedar footbridge with Councillor Joe Mihevc, Ivor Simmons and myself. We provided coffee, juice, water, cookies and banana bread to the helpers and a few stray passers by. Some 20-30 people showed up to help clean up our park and ravine.
Ivor got right inside the bridge support and gave it a good clean-out! It was quite the sight in there.
Here we are at the end with Roberta Benson. You can see the many bags of trash the volunteers removed from the ravine. Amongst other items, we also found a children’s wheeled toy and a suitcase.
I am behind in my reporting (too many things going on): to come are postings on trout lilies, a nature walk with Rachel Gottesman and the Adopt-a-Park-Tree mulching day on 9th May. See you in the ravine!
