Children’s water play featue officially opened

On Thursday 10th July, Councillor Joe Mihevc formally opened the children’s “splash pad” or water play feature next to the tennis courts. You can see that a line of trees was also planted between the feature and the tennis courts.

The councillor first talked about the process of capital spending approval, designing the feature, community meetings, site selection etc and thanked the various people involved, including Susan Anderson. (Our posting last year showed the community meeting to present the plans on 23rd May 2013). He showed the children one of the charts that came out of a meeting (see below):

Then he moved on to the official ribbon-cutting, carefully arranging to have children cutting it in two places at once:

Finally, it was time for the councillor himself to push the button that started the water flowing (see below). I will have to take my granddaughter there sometime to get an expert opinion on how well it works!
