Cedarvale ravine’s shape and biodiversity are tied to its water system and the architectural and community actions that have left it the way it is.
For example, the water of Castle Frank Brook has been altered by the construction in the park, including the subway. However, there is still water running free in the park. It is this water that feeds the various ‘wetland’ like areas and the many trees, plants and wildlife that thrive in the ravine. It is that free and pooling water that initiated the small educational wetland in the park area (photo below):
