Trout lilies

On Sunday 28th April, I was taken on a tour of Cedarvale by John Routh, urban forester, and author of Don Watcher blog. He pointed out the yellow trout lilies shown in the photo above and said they are one of the “spring ephemerals”. They are ephemeral indeed – I saw them again last Saturday 4th May: they had shrivelled up and were not nearly as noticeable. I will keep my eyes open for sights such as this on my regular walks through the ravine.
