The Friends of Cedarvale partnered with Councillor Joe Mihevc’s Cleanup Day in the ravine on Sunday 21st April. Roberta Benson and I (seen in photo above with Joe Mihevc) set up a table below the Glen Cedar footbridge at 9.30 am, with coffee and banana bread from World Class Bakery. The Councillor’s assistant, Beth Gosnell, provided plastic bags and gloves and “anchored” the operation. Some 20-30 people spread out into the ravine and pulled out an amazing amount of trash.
Carolyn Bennett, our local federal MP (seen in photo above), stopped by and helped with the cleanup, finding a credit card and some cash!
By the end we had quite the collection of bags and assorted items (including a bicycle) to be picked up later by the city. Beth Gosnell is in the centre in the photo above, with Roberta and me to her left. Dr Arthur Ameis took the photos.
Many thanks to all those who helped make our beloved ravine a much cleaner place.
